1. Decreased demand for cleaning
Compared with stainless steel components and pipelines, the single-use technology doesn't need to cleanse and sterile, so doesn't require the process of CIP (Clean in Place) or SIP (Steam in Place), and the demand has declined obviously for WFI (Water for Injection).
2. Improved the turnaround time of each batch
From time cycle, single-use technology compared with traditional SS technology, the function, design, and construct of system are simplified, no longer needing complex fluid tube and valve control, so the construct period is clearly shortened. SS technology needs a longer turnaround time than SUT because it requires the process of CIP/SIP. SUT can facilitate more production of batches.
3. Reduced the risk of cross contamination
The whole system of single use technology is sterilized by Gamma ray irradiation, reducing the possibility of cross contamination, and the whole system keeps sealed, improving the level of aseptic guarantee in the production process.
4.Lessened plant footprint and costs
Owing to much less facility infrastructure required, utilizing single use system can help to cut down the requirements of facility footprint square. Companies with less capital can operate smaller facilities for early development and clinical trials with reduced costs related to facility size and utility consumption.
